Does anyone have any experience with this splitter? Its a truck load sale on CL. Seems like a very fair deal.

Thanks HDRock, very helpful. I'm about to pull the trigger on a Ariens. but this woods seems like a good splitter at half the price. Of course I need to pick it up and put it together.

Speeco makes a lot of splitters that get re badged , my Huskee is made by Speeco, County Line at Tractor Supply and apparently Woods also.
$799 is a really good price

That is a good price, TSC has the 25 ton on sale right now with free assy & fluids....of course you would have tax, Don't know about that with your deal.

Only thing I wood consider 74buc is the beam has the guide rails (similar to my Champion) which make horizontal splitting a little more of a pain to keep the center portion clean. Not a big deal, and literally no issue when splitting vertically perfect.

Yes I rented one with the beam like this, the bark collects and you have to clear it out once in a while.

Heck, I paid $700 for mine lightly used :axe:
Not much different than the Woods splitter, motor is on the other side.
Post up a thread and some pictures if you get one

Went together in about an hour, and started the very first pull. Seems like a well made splitter for the $799. I did pick up the 4way wedge and log cradle for it but haven't put them on yet. Split the ash and red oak I had just fine, likely more splitter than I ever need. No more renting which will be nice. The only thing don't care for is the shorter tongue, kinda a pain with the gate down on the SxS to hook up.

Congratulations now you can split at your leisure,:axe:
I was wondering if they had the log cradle available for it, didn't see it at the Woods Equipment website.
That should be able to handle a 4-way on straight wood.

That really is a short tongue isn't it? I don't recall seeing one like that before.
You'll probably end up lengthening it shortly.

Congrats and hope it does all you need it to but I agree w Chris F - I dont know if that helps backing it up being moved or makes it nearly impossible??? Good looking splitter though and I sense a Speeco connection? What engine?

One thing I noticed about my splitter is even thought its a dirty hand tools 22 ton, its something I could end up usimg for life and save myself from surgery. But likely need that anyways as I am probably only delaying the inevitable. Great price you got there. Bummer about the short tongue, I noticed one time driving with mine on the back of my car that it went on an easy drive yet I popped the hitch lock for some reason. So with a quick fix after that trip, won't happen again but I would definitely seek a longer tongue. I can't see the splitter from my rear view mirror at all, just the tires sometimes in the sides.

I likely will never tow with my truck, just the sxs and atv. So the tongue is not a huge deal for me, just an observation. It has the kolher SH265 engine, would have preferred the Honda engine which is an option listed in the manual.
Blount International is the parent company of both Woods and Speedco so I would guess you'd see similarities between them. From what I understand the Woods brand uses domestic sourced parts where the Speedco uses more Chinese parts.
