think Im going to go out on a wood hunt today. Asplundh has moved to the other side of town, and really going at it over there. Piles all over the place, lots of them on municipal owned land. I'll put that aside for splitting this winter.

I need to game plan how I will fill out this winter too. I refuse to pay $300 or more per cord for wood since I dont have a wood lot, and havent had as much luck getting free or cheap seasoned wood as I hoped I would by now, I'm only at a little over 2 cords for this winter. Im locked in at a pretty good price for propane, but Id rather see a 1 year ROI on the new stove!

its 47 degrees here this morning, 64 in the house. Plenty comfortable in a sweatshirt until the sun warms things up in a few hours.

I was just looking out the window, and saw someone steam by on the pond in their party barge. WTF?

I'm WAY behind on my firewood splitting and stacking. The wife's still in a boot so I may end up tarping some rounds this winter.

Our new furnace is so efficient we probably won't use much anyways. Just extra heat and for comfort.

I'm locked in at $1.65 a gallon for propane, so its not too terrible. But I was hoping to avoid that totally! I have about a half cord of cradles that I took home from a job we worked, I was just burning them in the fire pit because they SUCK to process. I may have to rethink that.

38* but 69* in the house. I turned the pellet stove on last night and set it at 68. Otherwise it would be in the low 60*s or high 50's in here - and that just ain't happening!

That's a good plan $300 per cord is more than it costs around here but not buy much....

We are on natural gas here so it's not bad but it still costs $$$ I think the stove is never leaving our house because frankly it's just beautiful and warm. We have barely hit the woods this year.

I've taken a bunch of tree jobs but didn't need the wood or have anywhere to put more.

MAYBE I'll do a give away on FHC later this year after our racks are restocked if there is extra but we will see...

Natural gas is good if you have a line. Actually, we have one of the only Nat. gas lines in the area in our development. Runs right in front of the house. When the oil furnace craps out I'll have no choice but to go to gas. Our son has it in his house and I can't believe how much less it is than oil. And his house is the same size and style as ours except he has an added on room.
