My IS heats my home Don't feel to bad about installing a gas burning unit. My wife wanted one in our basement as well. Our insert is upstairs and she wanted a way to better heat the downstairs when she was working down there. We got a Jotul gas heater.
My IS heats my home .. it a all right.. I got a buderus (OHW) in my basement you will find in the real cold backup is good.. plus you can go away for a mini vacation in winter (wife's like that )
Can't do anything about it, but..... Sure hate it being dark in the mornings! Just doesn't get sunlight until way after 6:00 now. (Sunrise is just a few minutes away form 6:30.)
I was almost feeling bad yesterday when I asked to have my truck driver stop at Woodstock Soapstone to pick up my new stove next week. But today I got an order for Nordica Ski's, apparently they have a facility literally right next door to Woodstock. So now it's even less obtrusive!
Dammit !!!!!! Flippin 23.00 for a burger, fires, an orange juice, and a pie of cheese cake? And.......they can't pay a human to take the order? Oh........howdy.
I took this week off to see the kids off to school and hang with the wife, hikes and lunches before the bus gets back. Also taking advantage of the weather to get harvest. ( this is a beauty smaller twin swamp maple ) The little guy was one of a couple dozen of our hiking buddies.
For your penance, please bake and share a couple of those Wood Fired Oven pizzas with FHC member(s). (Preferably Gasifier. ) And enjoy the warmth of that new stove.
I believe that's the same one we put in the cottage upstairs. It replaced a lopi wood burner. I think it's the st Croix model.
you know of course when it arrives this mandates and a new thread.. so that when you have the smallest question a dozen IS owners can explain it in intricate detail and of course your preferred method of transporting the 700 plus pound behemoth to its resting place
I wish we had NG in the canyon. That would simplify my life by quite a bit. Alas, won't happen in my time here. Now, I do have a Taco Bell close by, and a Chipotle near work, but I'm not that committed to saving the planet, so no. Can you imagine...???
I bought an AS. I really liked the looks and and ability to really personalize the IS, but it was just going to be too big of a stove for my application. We were still able to pick and chose what we wanted, which was nice. And to be able to be in the warehouse moving things around on peoples stoves that were waiting for pickup to see what we liked best was awesome! As for my preferred method of transportation? A 26' box truck that will be able to pick it up for me for free, and deliver it to my shop where it may or may not sit until I am ready for it. I have some big aluminum ramps at the house that I keep to help my wheelchair bound FIL into the house, those will be perfect to get it off the pickup and then up onto the low porch, and then into the house. I'll throw together a dolly if I cant find one quick to move it on.
Friday is the big day. 9 year anniversary and we are getting married. First picture is about 8.5 years old. 2nd picture is from about 2 months ago.
