Someone on a different (non-firewood) forum posted that he has four white pine trees that need to come down, he doesn't have a big enough saw to deal with them and the tree company estimates had him sitting down to catch his breath. He said they are 60-80 feet tall, 3-4 foot dbh, and very straight. Dang, I wish I lived closer. If you didn't take the trunks for lumber, that'd be a chunk of firewood. As is, it's likely that they will eventually be bulldozed together and burned. If that doesn't make a true firewood hoarder's heart break, I don't know what would.
I'm in north central Iowa but we don't do any pine due to the okd lady's allergy to it. What county? Its illegal to move firewood across county lines in Iowa.
My understanding is that the pines are in Floyd County. I didn't know that part about moving firewood. I guess that's why he said his options were limited. Oh well, it's just one of those things that caught my attention. Probably nothing to do about it.
