So I finally got around to stacking some of the firewood I'd been putting off today. I'm amazed with how much wood I have so far. Not a great pic but you get the idea. I believe I have a cold or something setting in so I'm not feeling my greatest at the moment. That and getting used to a new keyboard on my phone....(put a glass protector on my screen and it does NOT like the default Samsung keyboard...) However the Google Gboard is nice... Wanted to also say thanks to you all for giving me such a great forum to read. I don't know what it is about firewood but I love it. I just have a prefab fireplace and it's nothing special, it's no wood stove , but it heats our little place incredibly well and come on...there's just something about a crackling fireplace. I've even took a grill grate and placed directly over the fire grate in there and grilled a couple of steaks. Nice and smokey with a great sear. On a final note....there's this game I play called Planet Coaster on my gaming PC. It's incredibly fun and so realistic for what it is. So realistic in fact that the 2 park trains that you can build, the Connie Express and The Iron Horse, have accurate balloon smokestacks and the tenders behind the locomotive have split wood in them. Detailed split wood. This isn't a great picture but it's what I'm working with lol Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk
Looking good. What's hanging from the tree? Looks like maybe the remnants of the last guy who tried to steal a few splits...
Thanks all. Not sure what that is, just a rope with some red tape I believe. The pallets to the left of the woodpile will also go in the fireplace. Just gotta figure out a way to safely process them. I've tried with the miter saw but it likes to snatch and kick back. Hurts ones wrist and makes one say very un-Christian-like comments lol Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N920A using Tapatalk
Yep James Dean I have to agree with the crackling fire. It is nice. When power goes out around here I can still have heat, cook on top of the wood stove, and melt snow for water if needed. I am on a well so no power no water.
I have used a sawz all , but I use one of my small chainsaws , quicker , I stand em up against something so I don't have to bend over so much, just look at it good so you don't be cuttin any nails
I lay the pallet across a couple saw horses and get after it with a circular saw. I keep a fubar on hand to pop nails when necessary.
