anybody have any experience they can share about CSA (Community Supported Agriculture)? i am thinking about signing up for one for the season. its $800 for the 25 weeks, or $300 if you work the farm for 3hrs/week.
I have wanted to do it too, just never have. A co-worker's mother does it, and sometimes I get some leftovers. Good stuff. I kind of tend a large garden, so I fend for myself.
I just stopped in and spoke to the owner. Really nice guy but he was splitting wood with a chopping ax and no tire. I read him the act. Will be signing up for a work share and see how it goes.
I am a CSA subscriber and really happy with the experience. Mine is considerably cheaper ($23/box) and delivers a lot of excellent produce, almost all of it organic. The first season we did it, we ended up with far too much food for our 2-person family, so we began splitting a share with another family. From what I've read, the experience varies; like any other service there are good providers and bad. Ask around about the farm's (and farmer's) reputation.
