Finished getting the split oak out of the woods today. Now there is more room for more cutting back in there plus room to get limbs up out of the creek. Might need some help for that though.

Marshel54 please notice the ends that are built with different sizes of splits. No, I'm not too picky at getting the same size but still have no problem with the stacks holding.

One thing I notice about your ends is that you never seem to have anything but the biggest splits on each end of each level. No rocking chair effects at all on those ends. I think that is where I may have been messing up.

Yeah Oldman47, I must spend more time finding parallel splits for the cribbed ends and placing them than the actual stacking. And still they wobble.

I like to use some of the chips from my splitter trash as shims in order to stabilize wobbly pieces. And I also like to put the larger/heavier ones towards the bottom.

I like that Jason because it shows the guys you don't have to be so picky on the sizes and shapes when it comes to building the ends.

   I have to tell you that I had one cribbed end fall yesterday. Of course it was only about 3' tall at the time...and I hit it with the bucket of the tractor. Sure glad it wasn't a completed stack.
