Unfortunately that picture was not taken today. I was cutting right next to an existing road.

I scored some real nice Ash yesterday, had to noodle some to get it on the truck,, got it s/s in the woodshed. A couple cold frosties and dinner had me in bed by 9pm last nite.
The temp has fallen to 9 with a hi of 17. If the wind isn't too brutal, I'm gonna' chase another "rick" today.

In not so sunny SoCal this week. It hasn't rained here in 14 months but they are supposed to get 3-5" of rain in the next 72 hours. Going to be a mess. The locals make it sound like the end of days.

 

Well, if you're anywhere near those steep hills out that way, and if gravity still works in Calif… look out for moving mountainsides…

Drinking a cold Pepsi in the camp on my first break. I cut three trees down so far this morning and I'm hauling the large enough stuff back to the house for next years would supply. Cutting a new road through the woods a little at a time. Should be through this short section (maybe 300'?) by next week. This is a good time to do this. No bugs. It is thick with Spruce, vines, and some Ash.

 

I have the dark brown Carhartt bibs on today, over the top of flannel lined jeans, and with insulated shirts on. Sweating when cutting. And it is about 2 out right now. LOL time to clean the pellet stove and get it fired back up. Then get back and cut one more load of the carry all before lunch.

 

Been doing some brush busting/trail blazing here. A lot of good wood I'm after, just not making much firewood busting brush..a couple hours today and I should make it to the honey hole.

 

Putting the Ford to work today. A very light work out for it.

 

Pellet stove cleaned. Time to get back to cutting.
