Hope everything goes well. If it's below the belt line, don't worry about the closure for the incision- it won't matter. But if you have an umbilical or epigastric hernia, ask your surgeon to do a running subcuticular closure. It's known as the "plastic surgery" closure, and heals up with an almost invisible scar. Again, hope all goes well today!

    Good deal Jack.
Do what they tell ya, but watch out for the pain meds.

I'll second that. People don't understand that pain is part of life and the healing process. The nice meds you get for after surgery are just to get you by for a couple of days to alleviate the heightened pain associated with surgery itself. You should be off the meds completely within 5 or so days, and naturally there will be some pain during recovery period but it's your body letting you know it's not totally healed up yet. Take the meds, don't get a refill, and take it easy for a couple of weeks. You'll be firing on all cylinders in no time!

I had muh guts stitched back into position about 18 months ago. Good as new now but the recovery wasn't a lot of fun. Coughing hurt. Sneezing was downright excruciating.

Good idea Roger but I don't like messing with paint nor do I like buying it. The first picture below shows our marking stick laying on the log. It is marked for 16", 32" and is 48" long so we mark 3 logs with it before moving to the next. We use the simple crayons, which you can buy at home cheapo or lumber yards and I like the red best. One little problem is that they will tend to break if you are not careful but a holder like the 3rd picture takes care of that. At present I think the crayon that we are using has been in the holder about 6 years and has a long ways to go. Saves buying paint.

I have started stealing a piece of my daughters sidewalk chalk for marking logs, seems easier than my old method of touching the moving chain to the bark. One less piece for her to draw on the side of the house with too!

We top covered 14 f/c of firewood today but we still have 6 f/c of shoulder season wood (pine) that will be covered by Monday.

Hopefully we won't need all of the 14 f/c this winter but we will burn all of the 6 f/c unless it turns real cold quick.

Things that need to be done before the snow hits, new plow zones cleared or made, trails widened, sell the plow for the truck, dry some sand for winter sanding, clean gutters, septic pumped out, chipping and stacking.

Feeling pretty good tonight. Worked through the rounds I cut yesterday. If we have average winters for the next 2 years, I figure I have completed my wood for the 2018/2019 season. Most of the wood I get is Ash so it could be taken off the 2 year plan stacks if needed. I also have about a half cord of a mixture of Honey Locus and Oak as a start on a 3 year plan CSS.

We'll be heading to the L.P. tomorrow for the weekend. (Detroit )

Kind of a family (her side) outing. Hope that not too many try sneaking into the U.P. while I'm away-the wall isn't quite finished!

Hope I can find my passport.
