I get a lot of wood for my OWB from a tree service. I show up, they load me, I bring it home and cut it up into firewood length. As part of the deal, I have to take everything. I've had this supplier for about 6 yrs. I finally got around to burning all the crotches, punky and pieces with cable or chain grown into the tree. I've kept this stuff just in case I had nothing else. Well, I've got a couple spots now that will yield 10+ yrs of firewood, not to mention culls on my property. This stuff needs to go.
Many trees this guy cuts have had several attempts at saving them. He gets to them when they finally die or threaten a structure.
Sure looks like good enough fuel for the OWB.... Yeah, we're gonna have to review his membership fees once more!
I only have one problem with this, Casper.....I don't see a cooler full of beer and chairs by that fire!! Lol
Oh, I'm gonna be batting a 1000.... I'm not a drinker. We'll be sitting around it tonight. I just went out and pushed the pile up and added a few more chunks. We have 4-H booth tear down at 6:00 so we will head out after that.
Probably a question for the outdoor wood boiler thread, but it pertains here too: since an OWB burns and the ashes fall down to the ash pan, what does it matter if there is some barbed wire, chain or other metal debris in the wood? Wouldn't it either fall down to the ash pan and be removed, or stay in the main firebox where you could remove when you see it as you refill with more wood? I'm getting an OWB so I really would like to know. Thanks!
You can't tell where the lag or eye bolts are, what angle they where driven/screwed in or how many times the cable or chain were wrapped around the section. It's better for me to just give it a wide berth.
Well Casper, guess I'll be the first to say it...."Thanks!".....for makin' the summer just a little warmer! JK of course...
That's better than screwin up your chains . Sometimes ya just have to much gnarly stuff n uglies , no sense keepin it around ,takin up space if your not going to use it
Yep that is pretty close. About 20 miles or so. I believe there is a Bible Educational system there. It is a small town, but most towns in Wyoming are small. Tell him he can look me up any time. I will take him to the Mountains and he can help me get some firewood. Ha
He's working at Frontier as a maintenance man. He's taking his Chicom Stihl 660 out with him. Maybe he'd take you up on the offer.
