Absolutely can't argue with a wood delivery! Wish I'd known it was coming a little sooner so I could have done the men a little better than a Genny Cream Ale to chew the fat over after unloading. The pine was dumped out of my tree service buddy's nice new dump trailer, the maple he was kind enough to load into his own pickup as a thank you for taking the pine off his hands. There's a little more behind what's pictured that will need cutting before it's split and stacked. The pine is all neatly stacked in rounds now, and the maple will be split and stacked tomorrow, baby, wife, and weather willing. I think I'm officially over the limit on pine, but I'll keep taking what I can get. Who needs grass?
Not a bad idea. I've got some that's been sitting in the round for years - will have to give it a shot. Maybe stick a couple gobs of pitch down in there.. after stacking this stuff, I can just scrape it off my arms. -edit- I'm going to have to post a leaf pic of the maple. Tree man says silver, but my experience with silver maple has much more thin leaves, "wispy" if you will. I'm thinking young sugar or red maple, but he's a pro and I'm not! So he's probably right.
Here we go.. The little slab the leaves are on is not the same wood, of course. It's a little cherry round I made into a sorry little drink table to put between chairs at the chiminea.
I was just going to say that. Norway maple it's much better than silver maple as far as btu's too. Especially if it's a yard bird. I've got some Norway maple in my stacks now, from tree service freebies as well. I had to cut the logs up though, so I can attest to the density of the wood vs softer maples.
Yup. Either norway or red maple. There is not a lot of difference in the two. But the wood does not look right for red maple.
Finished gathering up the pine this evening. The pile finished up at for rows deep, cut to approximately 24" Leningrad lengths. Tree man is down fighting a nasty flare up of sciatica. Wouldn't wish that crap on my worst enemy, let alone a good guy like this one. :/ I compared the maple to some Norway that I have here, definitely the same tree. Thanks Savage, Dave, and Horkn.
Exactly.... my wife claimed the task of mowing the yard when we first bought our house....I've shaved teens of minutes off her responsibility :stacke::stacke::stacke::stacke: Besides, backyard grass is totally overrated

Free & delivered, keep taking the pine. It burns and heats! I do 1.5-2 cords per year of it. A bit messy is my biggest complaint. Smells much better than red oak cut and split!!
