Looks like a combination between a feller/buncher and a processor head.

The operator makes that machine, someone without his skills would be floundering.

Give me a week. The state of Ohio would never be the same lol. We would, however have plenty of wood for the GTG!

This is how Dennis is 8 years ahead. He volunteered his woodlot for them to try it out on. Sly like a fox I tell ya.

Instant pulpwood bolts. I've watched a plain old feller in action. It is quite impressive to see that carbide tipped circular blade go through a tree in a second and then watching the operator place the tree down where he wants it.

Wow, tree down an cut in lengths, no one hurt. Only thing is there is just one man working. Doesn't support a lot of jobs. Must keep the Workman's comp cost down.

Ummm. Hellllloooooooooo. Over here. I want one too. I'm in! Wow. Wouldn't that be cool? If the Firewoodhoardersclub members had one, or several pieces of equipment to move around. LOFL. Too bad shipping would be so costly.

Some of the actions are programed into the computer to achieve the best production out of the tree . The felling head will sense the diameter of the tree at any given point and buck at mill specified lengths for that diameter. The computer will also record the volume cut in a specified time and can be down loaded/printed out. Even the basic feller bunchers that just cut and drop do take skill/finesse. We had 2 back in the 90's when timber markets were booming. The company sends a rep out for a day or more to train you on the machine. The first day was cutting poles into firewood on the landing to train your mind/hands on the movements.

Wonder how it would do with trees with lots of stiff branches like oaks with the dead downward hanging branches or Hedge trees?

I'm betting it was designed to deal with anything Ma Nature grows for trees… in about 6 seconds each.

You would think so but I haven't never see videos of them doing anything but evergreens.

Probably because the machines that fell and cut to length thrive in patch cuts where everything is getting cut. They also have size limit on what they can cut so a forest with trees of all the proper diameter makes for easy work. That would tend to describe a plantation with a single species of evergreen that is all the same age.
