Although I've only ever seen one Mulberry tree in my life up this way, and I've never burned any, my experience is that generally any "fruit " tree is usually good hard wood. So I'm gonna say, you got yourself a good score of some pretty decent wood there Greg . Enjoy!:stacke:

Mulberry is listed between red oak and white oak on the btu chart.
    Good score!

Only thing bad about mulberry is the sparks it throws when you open the door. Otherwise it's dayum good wood!

I thought mulberry was a bright yellow when cut.

That looks more like a Box Elder than a mulberry from the pictures. Not saying you're wrong, but it might not be what you think.

Either way, wood in the trailer is always a good thing.

It does sort of look like box elder. The leaf would tell the story for sure. But an OWB would not mind either.

You guys are right I think

Fairly light wood even green, sort of a pinkish or reddish streak through part of it. Customer called it a mulberry so guess I just had that on my mind

I am gonna say box elder is the right call, and will offer no apologies to owb who will eat it anyway

A mulberry can look quite orange a day or two after a cut but it never looks pinkish.

Split a round and give me some close-up of the long grain as well as the end grain .......that should help us see exactly what it is.

Mulberry is excellent firewood, albeit the sparks can be overwhelming to a first-time user.....

It has, in my opinion, the sweetest scent when burning......kinda reminds me of cotton candy....

    Call me crazy....

If that tree was a mulberry, that's a dandy load of it. There's a HUGE mulberry right out the street from my house, biggest one I know of in these parts. It stains the road pretty bad every summer..
