Verizon #text 7726, they send a message instantly send the number that is scam, then block the number, I was getting 2-5 calls a day about 2 months ago, I started doing that and I now get about 1 a week. I've blocked a lot of numbers already. When I'm bored I answer them and waste a couple minutes before cussing them out, I had one fella kept trying to sell whatever insurance through being yelled at! at least their willing to finish the job?!? I don't run a business per say but I have an ad or 2 on Craigslist for welding. I'm sure that doesn't help matters.
The calls that we get at work that drive me crazy are the "no one at the other end" - just blank airspace. I try not to answer the phone on the first ring and sometimes that works but my co-worker can't let the phone ring more than once.
we bought a new phone 3 weeks ago and it blocks all unwanted calls, works a treat no more spam calls at all.
If I have the time I answer and talk so challenged that they can't understand me and say some really off the wall chit! Also if there are people around I put it on speaker for all to hear. It's always good for a laugh!
Because of the need to answer most calls I've gone to the practice of answering most but if there is a pause before they answer, I just now assume it is telemarketing because they usually have to transfer to one of their idiots to answer the call. While they transfer, I hang up.
Spam calls? What is that? I get calls from such nice people helping me with my computer or making sure my Google listings are up to date. I am impressed that people are concerned that my car may break down and take time to tell me about a extended insurance policy I should get. And there are so many nice people that tell me about wondefull cruises that I never knew about. I have heard a lot about online shopping and this is what they must mean when these nice people call you and you can just order from them on the phone. And they are so thoughtfull helping you out, just the other day I was giving my credit card number to one and he asked me if I wanted them to keep all my credit card numbers on file. I never would have thought about that. Even the government has called when I made a mistake on my taxes but the nice young lady helped me out on getting that taken care of. Gary
Well, Fox 4 here in KC had a piece on this, from I think a station out of Wisconson Fox news station... This lady used a couple of apps for this, Nomorobo and TrueCaller (she hasn't gotten any more calls with this app)... Might be worth a check...
So how'd ya do it? What kind of phone is it? Is it just a setting that needs to be turned on? Or an app?
On the recent calls list, touch the # and choose details or info. Go to top right corner and click the menu list. A bubble pops up the says block call. Click it. Done ...at least on my Galaxy S6
I get at least 6 a day here! . I had one tell my just last night someone was hacking into my computer and I said really "who, you"? She hung up... I thought the number was from a friend of mine, The do not call registry is a giant load of crap!!! TD, my truck has been out of warranty now for three years and you're right, I still get the call that my trucks warranty is "about" to expire and I "BETTER" get an extended one now!!! . What the wife and I tell everyone in the family, friends and inner circle is: Call us if needed between 5pm and 8pm, if we see it's known number, we'll answer, If not the machine gets it.
A new twist that I have noticed lately is they use a local #...in the past if I got a call from a local # (our little town) it was legit. I haven't answered any of these calls myself, but some co-workers have... I have gotten the calls repeatedly though, never a message left...I figure they'll leave a message if somebody actually needs to talk to me.
Back in the day, mom would call but very rarely would she leave a message. She didn't like talking to a "machine". If I didn't check the caller ID, I wouldn't know she called. I get a fair amount of "local" calls where the number is listed but they all run together, then it's listed again in normal format with dashes. I don't answer those either. Bingo.
