Wifes been wanting to lift the truck a little ever since we bought it. Well last week I pulled a dumb*** move and proceeded to wreck the truck. Trailer jackknifed on ice and hit the truck bed and messed it up enough to need a new bed. So while I had the bed off I figured why not throw the lift in now. Just a 2.5" lift (still need to lift rounds into the bed). So picked up an add a leaf for the back and leveling kit for the front.
Are you gonna make it a flatbed? You should make it a flatbed. Flatbed with stake pockets. Flatbed with stake pockets and a 2" x 3/8" flat strap to wrap the stake pockets and bed sides. For extra tie down areas. And 3" channel sides that fit in the stake pockets, so you can load log length wood, and......
Yes I was there....I was talking to him about when he would get a vehicle I had wrote an estimate on finished and he was running through some of his up coming work. He started talking about a Ford truck that had bed damage and that had hit a deer a while back. I said I just bet I can tell you who that belongs to.
you're right another deer hit....it used to be just certain times of year that we would see most of the deer accidents but it's year round now.
Our deer population is huge and accidents are very common. Natural predators are kept down, and the hunt is protected. Deer hunting is a huge industry here. So is collision repair. Some people have hit or been hit by deer several times. Even in the populated neighborhoods.
When I lived in SC I had a 45 minute ride to work on back roads. Dodging deer was a daily adventure. I hit 7 deer in one year though. But they are much smaller down there and never did much damage to my F150
Tires are in good shape and have plenty of life left so Ill wait until they need replaced to go a lil bigger.
Nice Swags - I'm big fan of a modest lift for stance/leveling/appearance. Most knuckle heads go too high to make the bed useless - and the trucks barely see a dirt road. I once built a '65 C-10 stepside on a mid 70's shortened and boxed frame with 6" suspension and 4" of custom fabbed body lift so I could fit 40" TSL's with ease. That was a fun toy and a money pit The above but stepside - don't have any pictures
This puppy is getting a 4" and 35's before the end of summer Dirty in the pic but 100% rust free 1996 5.8l in immaculate shape. I agree, flatbed!
Pretty sure the whole point of a lift would be to fit larger tires! Looks like an F250/350? Should be able to fit a 37" tire with 2.5" lift.
For..... the street? Me wonders how much it would rub if it was USED to it's potential, but we do stupid stuff in Colorado Not too familiar with the newer F series, they do have large wheel wells though, as well it should be!
Flatbed would be nice but the wife drives this truck as much as I do so were gona stick with a standard bed. She wants a sexy truck.
Careful. You should re-word that or face having your "man-card" revoked. "Sexy" and "truck" don't belong in the same sentence, especially when talking about modifications.
