Holy smokes! My dad bought me a ms261 for my birthday! Firstly, my parents never did anything extravagant or bought me anything expensive growing up so especially now as an adult it was a huge and special surprise! Ran 5 tanks through it it seemed to wake up by the 3rd tank. I ran regular stihl mix on the first few tanks then my legend "snowmobile" oil mix on the rest with 87 e10 switching to the legend seemed to smooth the chainsaw out even more, and felt snappier. I ran it hard out of the box. First cut was a 20+ inch oak round. Then apple beech elm and cherry! Yesterday afternoon I muffler modded it. The mtronic is neat! I got so used to carrying the 461 or occasionally using a 290 that this could very well be my main chainsaw.
I love my 260-it gets used constantly for clean up, etc. even when I'm cutting firewood, it takes a 10" log before I break out the 461!
What an awesome present!! Careful using that sled oil in the saw. Double check to make sure it can stand the heat from an air-cooled engine without breaking down or creating ash deposits.
Indeed it's no 461, it's nice not to limb with the 461 25" bar. My arms will go flabby now. I run it in every thing. It's one of the lowest Ash oils and meets or exceeds any required standard for air cooled. You should look into it or try some. I know I know another oil debate!
Happy Birthday indeed. I have the version 1 and am very pleased with it. This new version is even better so I can only imagine how happy you are with it. Enjoy many years of service
