I went shooting with a good mate today. He brought out his WW2 era three-oh-three. (Lee-Enfield) produced at the Lithgow small arms factory.

It's been a hot, muggy week, nice to finally be able to spend it in my air conditioned cubicle road building.

That brings back some memories as I used to have one of those and really liked it.

I'm north of Milwaukee, and no flooding here. However, we bought this house on a hill for a reason, because our house we were renting was flooded the Spring of the year we bought our house later that summer.

Now, it seems that the local utilities cut my DSL internet cable as we've got no WiFi and a call into ATT couldn't fix it. It's no coincidence that they started working on burying the overhead lines to underground ones. Grr.

Gorgeous day this morning for our walk. We had a day of misty rain yesterday. Everything is getting really dry around here. Gardening, cleaning the deck and watching the Blue Jays is on the schedule for today.

My son had a karate class at the beach at 8 am this morning. It was nice and quiet, no traffic or crowds. We left by 11:30am as it filled in and got hot. We are not fans of the beach, crowds or traffic. We saw some lots charging $40 for all day parking. We like to go in the evenings when the crowds go and stay until sunset.

This is a partial view of the northern end of the beach. We were way down in the middle. This is a huge tourist hot spot this time of year. One of the kids took this picture but it does not really show the crowd size. There are rocks up in this area and less parking so it is not as crowded.

We met our friends in town at one of our favorite bars. I walked down the way, got a couple of slices of pizza and garlic knots for lunch, and we had that at the bar. To go with the beers. We talked about going on a vacation together to the Caribbean this winter.
