Rolling through Columbia SC at 1130am. Truck thermometer says 92F. I have a window down and even at 70mph it feels like it.
Day started out with thunderstorms and heavy rain earlier. It has tapered off to just occasional showers since then, but muggy.
Keep it there Dave. Except for getting a bit too warm it was nice today. A cool start then low 80's. At least it is not muggy. I hate that.
And I am on my way home to "cut wood" if you call it. I have to un load that monster trailer I got last week. I am going to have to cut it off and kind of drag with my tractor. No FEL and my boom pole is at the farm, plus it's a baby tractor anyhow.
At 3PM the temp is 93. dew point 70, humidity 47% with a heat index of 99. Yesterday was the same. Supposed to be cooler tomorrow.
Beautiful this am, until about 11, then the heat and humidity started getting a bit uncomfy. I put the air back on (ran it yesterday) on high, then about an hour ago turned it down. It's still 77 IAT, but feels cooler. OAT is down in the mid70s from a high of 88 after a storm came through.. Should be mid 70s tomorrow....I'll take it.
Yep been pretty warm here too. I did go down to the local cemetery today and cut another one of those small elm trees down. Thinning them out and making things look a little nicer.
Had thunderstorms roll through about an hour ago. Wind picked up, got dark, heavy rain, and no hail that was predicted. Sun is back out again. It looks like they will track all the way across Wi and Lake Mi (diagonally) to enter the L.P. overnight....sorry guys.
yooperdave I like the forecast for you for the next week. Hoping some of that will come down here. We did have a storm move through really early this morning. Got .2" of rain and some lightning.
Weve had lots of dry weather out west and 135 fires sprouted up from dry lightning and high winds yesterday alone. A state of emergency has been declared. My area is safe at the moment thankfully. Temps will be in the mid 90s for the next week. My wood stacks are drying nicely but Im not a fan of this kind of heat. Im loving the stove room right now... a cool basement in the summer is awesome!
Those wild fires have to be one of the bad curses of the west. Nasty stuff it is and I can imagine fighting them in the hot weather then going in where it is even hotter. That has to suck a lot of energy out of a person.
After these storms rolled through, we're sitting at a beautifully 66.9° after touching the mid 70s for a high today. Downright beautiful!
Got into the woods late yesterday. Dropped this swamp donkey, pinching the bar on the new 526. Went back and grabbed the 353 and got chased out by a thunderstorm. Went back in this morning and yahded 3 1/2 loads out. Enjoying the nice weather now on the stoop of the garage.
