There was one taken down by a farmer here in Iowa earlier this week.

    Details/story?

Or maybe it was destroyed by the hail storm...?

You'd have to google ot, it was reported on IPR. The farmer shot it because of it's proximity to humans and the likelihood of an attack. I think they said that was the sixth one in the state this year.

For a second, I was thinking that the story was about a lady at one of the local watering holes at happy hour:whistle:

I'd put my money on coyotes being the first culprit- fawns are on their list of favorite things. Although a cougar will take one down if presented the chance, too.

Those have been known to eat certain humans as well.

Yeah, it seems like since Wisconsin DNR finally admitted they are in the state, that there's been a lot more sightings. I've seen them, many years ago going to scout camp.

    Yep,
Both Wisconsin and Minnesota DNR now admit that there are cougars along the St. Croix River. Before we moved, we lived closer to the river and about 7 years ago my wife spotted one. The bluffs of the river and the good food supply makes sense for habitat. And when the river freezes they just walk across.
