Chvymn99 got me wondering with his chain care thread.
    I went digging
    Found :
    20" 3/8 x.050 72 dl
1 Winsor full chisel, (no idea where I got it but will use it eventually) sharp in a rag & bag oiled.
5 each of 72 LPX 7 LGX ( 2 oiled & bagged in too box. 8 in original box)
1 Stihl RS almost used up from last years cutting (on the saw)
2 Stihl RM one on the back up (old Husqy 61), one needs cleaned & sharpened.
1 RM2 or 3, back up for dirty stuff, stumps etc when needed.
2 Husqvarna skip, chisel , 1 new 1 slightly used (no use for it, junk cutting maybe)
1 RS skip, no use for it about 1/4 used up.

    I laughed at myself ; :)
I have 17 saw chains, for the 20 Husqy

    Low profile:
    1 chain on the craftsman Stihl 3/8 x .050 PM3
1 a junk spare for it, so bad no idea what it is, Oregon I think
2 total probably more logical bench stock inventory.

    19 chain loops, total.
    Using up 1 per year
Guess I won't be buying chain any time soon

Bet I'm not the worst chain hoarder here

This is probably less than half of what I have, I think there are around 215 loops in this picture ranging from 10" to 72".

I bet I dont have a dozen between the 20" several diff 18's and the 14 and 25 and 32". I try to keep full chisel only but have some semi chisel where there is no full or I have factory chains still in semi.

I'm not as as good knowin g what they all are. I have some woodland pro, forester, stihl, oregon, and maybe another?

I was amazed at how many I came up with.
I'm always looking for a good deal but now that I know the facts,
I need to use up what I got before I add to the stash.

Bogydave, I know that fact too. It was kinda of eye opening on what I had, if it had been in the open and not in butter containers it would be a different story.

So on I ended up with:

5 - 14" chains (2 brand new) .325 (to be gone with the saw)
3 - 18" .325 chains (to be gone with the saw)
    1 - 20" .325 chain
    3 - 25" 3/8 Chain
    5 - 20" 3/8 chains
    1 - 18" 3/8 chain

So yesterday I went and got a few more:

    1 - 32" 3/8 chain
    1 - 20" .325 chain
    1 - 18" 3/8 chain

I haven't taken inventory... but everything from 1/4 pitch to 1/2". Sold the 3/4" chain :). Probably not quite what Gary has pictured, but not far off lol.

I have prob 30 loops of 20 " x 3/8" x .050". I don't know how many loops are what of what. But I know most are RS or LGX. Have about 5 loops of 18" (all LGX), and a few of 25" (RS).

    Everything I have is 3/8" x .050. Using the KISS method :)

Pretty much the standard any more,
Good size for most 55 cc & up saws

    Prolly 20 loops kickin around.
Have set up all saws with this chain for many years. 1 chain = no mixups. No getting to the woods and having to go back for the right chain.

    8 loops of .404 .063 for 25" bar
    12 loops of .404 .063 for 17" bar
These are Stihl RSLF (Rapid Super L Square Ground Skip Tooth)

    6 loops of 3/8" .050 Stihl RM for 14" bar & 8 loops for 12" bar.
    7 loops of 3/8" .050 Oregon semi chisel for 18: bar & 14 loops for a 14" bar

    5 loops of 1/4" chain for a 12" bar (Mini Mac 6)

Here is one that came on a "Van Ruder Hydraulic Tractor Chainsaw" I picked up to use to make a wood processor. The saw is for 2 person operation & can cut 32" between the handles. I will change it over to .404 .063 bar & chain if I do build one.
    - Oregon chain 65 links long, 1-5/8" DL to DL, a little over 3/4" rivet to rivet Who can tell me what size & type this is?
It has Oregon PAT 2508784 stamped on it.

    I've got a chitload too....
    this is a close estimate....

    4 - 28" .050 3/8" Stihl Oilomatic chisel
    2 - 36" .050 3.8" Stihl Oilomatic chisel
    25 - 25" .050 3/8" Stihl Oilomatic chisel
    15 - 20" .050 3/8" Stihl Oilomatic chisel
    15 - 14" .050 LP Stihl chain
    1 - 48" .404 .063 full chisel Oregon chain
several loops of old 1/4" pitch chain for my older Stihl 015's. I love that chain, but it does some nasty kicking on you if it grabs when nosing h bar into wood!!

And probably around 25 other oddball Stihl chains around the shop (18", 16", and lots of oddball sizes and chunks......)

Only get tossed in recycling bin if they're too worn down, missing a few teeth or otherwise trashed.Keep a couple old beaters around for any rough/dirty cutting.

I bought 5 used ones this summer
& had to throw one one away at the end of cutting season here, ran out of adjustment.
Was a used RS , cutters still good. Hated to see it go.
    I think I'm still OK , got 20 good 20" loops
