Took advantage of the BEAUTIFUL day today and pulled the stove and did, what is hopefully, the last big clean of the season. Unfortunately, crappy days look to be coming next week again but I hope everyone enjoys the nice days this weekend!
Steve O lookin good man you got almost 10* on me loving this thaw getting some wood in the house , pellet ready to be cleaned got ice off the walks ,and I can see my drive way again not a total sheet of ice like it was this morning.
I really hope we get a serious melt off today and tomorrow again. I still can't get my truck or Jeep up to my shed, I'm going to have to walk the bags of Ligs down to the house so I can get those things burned up. Sounds like a good job for the kids...lol
Put them in a plastic sled and pull them over the ice and snow. No one get hurt and the pellets get to the house. My kids have been keeping me stocked up. I'll be glad to get back on my feet so I can do that for myself.
Looking good! How many times a year do you pull the stove? Twice? (Mid season and end of season)? I may be doing the same thing, a simple wing nut and my vent will slide right off the stove. Enerzone has a great design for making the stove super easy to remove. You may get more attention on this thread if its in the other Pellet forum? I can move it if needed? If not forgot I asked.
I usually do two majors and LBM after every 20-25 bags or so. Last time I did a major was the week of X-Mas I believe. Dex if you pull your stove to clean, please post some pics.
I checked my venting today. I've got a 3-4 increaser tee on the back then about 10 feet of vertical with 2 45 degree elbows back to back midway through the system. After burning just about a ton I didn't even have enough ash to fill the tee cap Pulled the combustion blower (I'm really just kind of learning this stove as it's almost new) and all was clean. I've pulled the baffles out once already and there was hardly anything in there. Most of it seems to stay in the firebox/ashpan and land on the heat exchanger baffle in the top. Pretty happy with the Vistaflame to say the least although I can already tell that when it's time to do the igniter I'm not going to be very happy.....
Same here. Major cleaning yesterday should get me thru the end of the burning season. Except for quick firebox brushings
Did my vent yesterday. Broke my #%*+=#'ing vent brush in the process. Looks like I will be buying one for the end of season cleaning!
After breaking 2 of those Rutland coiled brushes, I bought a Lint Eater and havnt worried about breaking one again
I like my linteater for the pellet stove and dryer venting and my sooteater for my wood stove chimney. Both are very good products.
Not to hijack this thread, but anyone know where I can get this brush, or ideas of something similar. I have used the heck out of mine, and It has no bristles left. I Like it cause it is very stiff, and every time I clean I run it through the heat exchanger tubes. I will not pay that kind of money though. http://www.stove-parts-unlimited.com/Sherwood-Industries-Pellet-Stove-Cleaning-Brush-p/ef-156.htm
Not sure if this helps you but these are the brushes I use and there's one in there that is similar: http://www.harborfreight.com/9-piece-tube-pipe-nylon-brush-set-90631.html
I've found the one I have like this is VERY handy for getting deep into the stove.....29" long: http://www.harborfreight.com/dryer-vent-brush-96163.html
