Locally, I'll buy what is called a chuck eye steak. It is just about as good as a ribeye!
99 keeps wanting to buy a hoard of beef or pork, but the sales are frequent and close enough that we don't have to stock up the freezer and watch some of the product end up with freezer burn. Yuk!

Tell ya the truth, I had a problem with the cook. It came out a bit dry and not too tender. Could not get the temp on the brisket up to 203° where it would have been perfect. It definitely was operator error. Still, it tasted great. Made some burnt ends from it for lunch today. They were awesome.

A butcher talked me into trying them over a decade ago and yeah, I was surprised too!

    Exactly!

Everyone please disregard the few previous posts!

Same butcher would take ribeyes and new your strip and slice them thinly Usually no more than 1/2" and sell a tray of them. You would end up with anywhere form 4-5 to 8-10 per package and usually at 1.99 lb...(in hte early 2000's now)

I would buy a pack or two and light the grill for steak and eggs in the a.m. Used to be a great "Dad" breakfast back then!

Cook the thin ones hot and fast. Ribeye shaved makes fantastic cheese steak. Chit, now I'm hungry.

That particular store has long since closed. Dang! :(

Think I'll buy a nice steak meal tomorrow for 99 and myself in honor of these memories! Just in case the weather dries up....

i bought two ribeyes yesterday....for tomorrow.
There was a really think ribeye that could have passed for a roast, but I passed on it. (there is an "a" in there Eric VW , not an "i"!)

One really thick ribeye...about 3 1/2" or so!
