Speaking of deer and moose, I smoked 8 lbs of pork loin last Sunday using hickory. It was fabulous. So son in law and 2 sons decided to each contribute a roast to smoke for this coming Sunday. I deer and 2 moose, each about 3 lbs. I'll try to get pics.

The problem isn't taking the picture, the problem is trying to figure out how to upload it to the computer so I can post it.

Got home around 6:45, in between storms. Temps dropped big time and piles of hail everywhere.
Thunder boomers and heavy rain coming through again around 8

Moose are usually fairly large deer.

That lake is a money maker. It's on the opposite side of an enormous reservoir. It's under the auspices of the metropolitan authority. Some special entity created back in the 30s as I recall.

They charge you to launch and the lake is patrolled. A very large lake, and quite unspoiled. They charge for every launch, even piddly little kayaks like mine.

They have armed police at the launch point.

    Probably checking Canadian geese passports.

I think they said it is usually carried by the Lone Star Tick and they were unsure if the ticks were coming up this way or whether there was another tick/insect that has become a carrier.

This lake is MDC managed and the launch is gated. You can still fish it from dawn to dusk on the bank.

There have been talks of closing it during the week and only allowing boat and beach on weekends. They have already closed one(EDIT: 2) beach's entirely as it was(they were) not making enough $$ to keep it open and enough life guards to ensure safety.

The population of large LMB has diminished greatly over the last few years. To many buckets on the bank and boats culling fish!! You can barely catch a 3 pounder now a days!!

subsailor that tick induced allergy is to all red meat including venison.

ETA: The Lone Star Tick is #8 in the list of "common" Maine ticks.
