Wasting a beautiful weekend

Stuck inside (mostly) nursing my broken foot. We have a whole bunch of chores and projects lined up for this summer, but that list will have wait. it's very frustrating.

BTW I busted it doing nothing more interesting than walking across the kitchen floor. Doh!

 

Heal well and fast.

Maybe some supplements for strong bones health sort of stuff?

 

Sorry to hear that Mike. It is what it is, so go with it.
Getting frustrated won't make it heal any faster, and you'll just be miserable.
Go sit in the yard with a beer and enjoy the weather (unless it's raining, of course).
Do you have a walking cast? That would let you at least do some basic stuff.
I walk into walls nowadays, so at least you didn't do that too.

 

Ouch! I hope it heals quick. I've heard a lot of stories of foot injuries being painful and taking a long time to heal.

 

Thanks for the replies. So, there is a little evidence that vitamin D may help speed bone healing, but real answer is rest and time. So far, I just have a CAM boot, no cast and no operation. I'm supposed to be non weight bearing. I have crutches, a knee scooter and a peg-leg do-dad to help me get around. Unfortunately, it's my right foot, so I can't drive and poor wife has to drive me everywhere. Best case, it should take 4-6 weeks to heal, and I'm 2 weeks already.

I hate having someone else drive.

 

I broke my elbow last year at the end of August, couldn't work for 10 weeks or drive for 8. I went for long walks in the woods every day. It was actually a great time! I know you can't walk, but find things you enjoy and have a good time. That's what I did.

 

Cool, you'll be runnin' 10Ks in no time.

 

That sucks! Hope you heal quickly and cleanly. Don't push it right now, but if they give you PT later, make sure to do those exercises.

 

When I broke my foot it was in a cast up to my crotch. Had to keep it elevated for two weeks. Then I learned to get around. And broke it again at 4 weeks. Second cast was on for 10 months.
You may have to cross some things off the project list but in another week or two you may be surprised what you can still do.

 

Tough break man. Don't worry those chores will be waiting for you when you're healed.

Literally just walking across the kitchen floor. Just heard a "snap" and felt pain. I actually waited 2 days before I got the x-ray and boot. I thought I could "walk it off."

Sorry to hear about the foot, Mike. Take it easy, and don't push it. Those chores will get caught up on in a few short weeks. Best wishes for a "no complications" recovery!
