Yesterday morning we watched radar and saw heavy rain north of us. Later in the day we went north and yes, they had gotten lots of rain with lots of standing water. I got up for a while last night because I could not sleep so sat at the computer. The very same area was getting hit and the edge not very far from us once again; same area. But we were getting nothing. I went back to bed around 3:00 am and saw that we would be getting some but didn't think it would be much. This morning I find 2" in the rain gauge and our woods is wet once again. But the worse is that area just to our north as they got 6" or more since 9:00 last evening! Lots and lots of road closures including the main expressway, US 127 with the worst being from Mt Pleasant to Clare. We were through there yesterday afternoon and I can only imagine what it much be like. I guess there are abandoned cars all over and many roads completely washed out.
I'm over 2 inches today so far and it's still raining. The tropical storm ran into a front on top of me and the skies opened up.
We had on and off rain yesterday that totaled 1.5 inches. Mostly clear today with a nice NW breeze and some puffy clouds with temps in the mid 70's. Be nice to have it this way all summer long.
A little south of me in Indiana County PA they got like 4.5in of rain yesterday in less than 2 hours. It looked like what you see on the news when levees fail. Total devastation. A death or two was reported. Feel horrible for those affected.
I don't know what's the deal with the National Weather Service 3 Day history not recording the rain we got, when the airport is five miles away, but I got a lot of rain here, and it didn't show up there
I think Midland got hit the hardest with 6.5". That 4th picture is US-127 and I think it was by Rosebush. 127 is the main highway running N/S in the center of the state.
I was in Mt Pleasant at midnight yesterday. I drove through water on Mission St that was almost up to the step on my truck. I think the rain had just gotten a good start at that point. I laid over in Grayling, but had thought about going to Midland. The Holiday Inn is pretty nice. The road to get to it in a big truck is right there at the Meijer gas station I haven't talked to our drivers that are in that area today. I'm sure there were some problems.
