So go back about five years.... Guy (ME) buys first house, meets neighbors and finds out the lady neighbor had cared for guys grandmother . Soon after guy tears out old ruined stove, repairs chimney, installs Lopi 1750i wood insert and starts hoarding cords :stacke: neighbor takes notice and tells guy he has switched to pellets and will sell him his almost new Splitter for less than half what it's worth and throw in an expandable cord holding rack. Guy buys splitter, increases production and has a nice 1/2 face cord rack for the porch. Fast forward to today... Guy comes home from work in the dark and pouring rain goes out to grab a bushel of bumped knots for a quick chill killer fire and stumbles across a five year seasoned split cord of oak, locust and maple mix that wasn't there yesterday stacked on his pallets right next to the other cords!!!! Guess who... Awesome neighbors!!!
You bet! I climbed and took down nine 50' pines for them a few months ago to save them from taking out their house and would do it again in a heartbeat... not to mention I like climbing
You are very fortunate to have such great people around you. Good fences don't make good neighbours...good neighbours make good neighbours. I know as with our first house we had great neighbours that are now life long friends. When we bought our farm we lucked out again. Life is good when you have good people to share it with.
Sounds to me like you have yourself a nice place to call home. Good neighbors are essential to a happy home life. Wish others could be so lucky.
Great story, I'm glad it all worked out for you that way. I myself am very fortunate to have good neighbors. We all help each other out when we can, over the years it has been cords and cords for me.
I'm bringing this one back! Same great neighbors and more wood! I was in the middle of doing some saw tuning last night when my neighbor stopped and said he had more wood did I want it?! Uh yeahhhh! Then he proceeded to say "wow you've got a lot here already are you sure you want it? I can just get rid of it elsewhere..." I abandoned the saw project and hooked up the wagon and went over to help him load it and to my surprise he said " it's my cleanout project I'll take care of it now go finish what you were doing!" I still offered to help but no luck so this afternoon I hooked back up and he had about half on the wagon since he was worried to put it all on. First load stacked out to about 1/2 a cord mix of all kinds of wood nearing its fifth drying season Took the wagon back over and will probably get the second half tomorrow

Great! Good on the both of you. Good neighbors are irreplaceable. When we bought this place, I found out an old work associate lives up the road. He had hit some health issues and couldn't afford oil this year, so we dusted off his old stove and I set him up with some wood to keep the place warm, shared a few green wood scores, and gifted him a maul so his son could set to work on this coming year's wood. When my wife and I were in the hospital for three days delivering Ella during a spat of 0 degree days in December, guess who took the dog out and kept the owb fed? Can't beat a good neighbor - helping each other out is what good folks do.
