What did I find?

    Bark looks like white oak. A picture of clean end grain should indicate medullary rays

    I'm thinkin' elm. The ash bark here comes off in huge sheets, elm bark falls off in small bits like the picture.

    Looks like red elm to me. It does split relatively hard but a good hydraulic splitter will take care of it. Good burning!
