I had went to a neighbor who gave me some firewood and after loading the first load we were standing talking when suddenly it really got super humid. I told him I had looked at the radar before going there and there was only one storm that was at least 25 miles NW of us and moving mostly NE. But I told him I'd check the radar before I came for another load. Yes, a storm coming right for us and not far away. So I put the tractor and atv away. When I shut the engine off I could hear a roar but thought it was a plane going over (we're on the flyway between Lansing and Saginaw). Not so! This roar was steady and not going over like a plane. It got louder and louder. We do not have a basement (but wish we did) and by the sounds of this thing it was nothing to mess with. We grabbed a flashlight and water bottle and headed for the well pit (first time we've ever done that and we've lived here for 40 years). Fortunately all we got was a little wind and very heavy rain. We came out of the well pit as the noise lessened. It was not long though before the loud roar started again to our east. Wow. It did sound like a train. Of course we lost power even before the storm hit us. Fortunately, we've had no reports of a tornado in the area but there is not doubt in my mind there was one but evidently it did not come down to the ground or hit a ways from us. We're okay. Generator is on so we have power. Drought is over.
That crap sucks when its coming at ya eh Sav. Good it went around you guys.. Was talking to XXL and he says there are tornado watches up at his place right now.
Yeah there's a cold front coming through, storms are developing, looks like dusk here but that's an hour and a half away, thundering now. Weather radio went off about 3 hours ago but nothing showed up until now
Glad it all cleared out and you got to a safe place. We had storms lastnight and expected to get more tonight with the cold front moving through tonight...
Good to hear that you and the better half are safe Mr. Savage. Yes, the drought is over - weeds are taking over the veggies, heheh.
Storms ain't done yet thunderstorm just went through ,,most are north of me rolling right over Pete and Dennis
Boy, got me nervous reading your post. It might be the fastest ive ever read to get to the part where your safe. Tornadoes/mini bursts nothing to mess with. Glad your ok!
Glad your both ok. I slept through the whole thing did not even realize it rained until i read this and looked out side. I guess being 1/2 deaf is ok sometimes
