New pad for wood pile underway

Pad expansion project underway. Added some shale and will be building far wall out of some barriers I got. Planning for wall to be 42 feet long at bottom layer, then 36 foot second course, then 30 foot top course.

Once paved I hope to have nice working area that I can then scrape clean with loader out the open end. More pics to follow.

 

Mind sharing how much you paid for the barriers? Im needing some of those.

Not sure what your using the wall for but I used to be able to get 3 footers/half block also for a "running bond" pattern. The blocks I used to get were poured in some pretty ragged forms from returning trucks at a concrete plant and did not lay up as neatly as yours. They were cheap ($40) but the trucking added to the cost due to the weight. Looking forward to seeing your finished project.

That's one of those large, Maxie pads!

 

Under normal hoard mode, the pad has a back slope on the short top side and long far side, wood sort of spilling over

Pad stayed muddy a lot and was pain to work on and move gear around on etc

Wall is helpful to hold edge of paving in, as lower blocks will be buried 7 inches once complete

I always wanted a fixed spot to push against with the loader vs the moving pile

Then my plan once paved is to be able to scrape with the loader out the open end

Lastly, not sure why, but I just think those walls are cool and wanted to try one!

 

Those blocks are cool! I've used them for retaining walls into a hillside and then for the "foundation" for the back wall of a building, a "headwall" for a bridge, material bins and anything else your imagination will allow.
They'll certainly stay in place just scooping up wood against it. I've seen them stacked 4 high (8') with sand piled against them to the top, nothing but air on the other side. Good old weight & gravity working for ya, unlike me in the AM.

 

These are cool. 6x2x2, rebar handle, and triangular slots on bottom, top and side to sort of lock together. If I wanted a solid building I'd throw these things up and put a roof on it.

 

All done, waiting 48 hours to cure, then the pile will be starting again, will have a trailer load I think tomorrow night that I'll leave loaded until ready.
