Found my wood! Haven't seen these stacks in a long time. Kinda looks like a bomb went off, need to clean it up a little.
Stihl lists them as running up to a 32" bar. Interested to see how it pulls, it will run it but probably I little slower.
The shelterlogic held up well, but because I kept up with with a simple shake every few hours. It saw 6" tops at a time.
I found 2 inches of water ponded under one of my stacks yesterday. The ice and snow make a dike around it and are holding the melt back. Pallets are good.
I can't believe, dave, that for the foreseeable future we are going to be 25 degrees colder than you. We still have a few feet of snow in the woods. I've been trudging in and getting branches that are down, and cutting dead 2 -3 inch saplings that I can grab and haul out. No sense cutting anything else, it will just sink in the snow. But I am gradually getting a good feeling for what needs to/should come down this Spring and Summer. Once the trees leaf out, determining what needs attention is more problematic. The dog is enjoying our forays. My road is glare ice. Makes for slowww walks. For various reasons, I had under two cords when this winter started. Foraging is really extending the life of my one remaining partial face cord...... Recent sunny days have helped, but I see the forecast is for cloud cover and flurries all week...lows near 0F, highs under 18F. Of course, with how far off the forecasters have been, seemingly always in the hotter than reality range, I'm expecting below zero lows and single digit highs. Hope I'm wrong. Hope springs eternal...
Here in central WI we're in the same boat. High of zero for this Thursday. 2' of snow everywhere, drifts are out of control. I've got 2 face cords left. The warm up melt is comming, someday. I can't wait till maple syrup season!
