    I don't know Ash to grow out here unless its a transplant. Let me know what you think.

    You must be thinking of Norway maple. I think they split, dry, and burn just about the same. Good score either way.

    But, count me in for white ash too. Does appear to be a yard tree so it could have been planted as an ornamental.

    I didn't score this but the norway maple i scored a couple months back just makes it hard to tell. This stuff is very knotty so my splits are hardly static. I know i'll get burns out if them. Just the bark really does look the same for comparison.

    Blacktail, I am not aware of any Ash that grows here in WA. Just not the kind of tree you hear about...

    Resembles the elm I see around here, which I have cut a fair amount of. Ash is rare for me. One split will tell if it is elm or not.
