my saw idles fine but under a load, it seems to be 4 stroking some which my guess means it is too rich. QUESTION : to fix this I need to turn the H screw counterclockwise or clockwise? What concerns me is that I know the danger fof running too lean is a burned piston. Like I said it cranks and idles fine but now when I bury it in a log, it sometimes starts 4 stroking and slows me down. Also, I clean the air filter daily, use 90 octane E free Stihl oil and recently changed the plug. Thanks in advance men.
4 stroking in the cut is fine IF it is when you lift the saw a bit and take the load off. Too rich will really only hurt performance and may cause a little build up in the muffler. Too lean as you know can damage the cylinder / piston. Turning the high side needle in will lean mixture, backing out will richen the mixture. Sent from my Z832 using Tapatalk
As others have stated ,ccw richens the mixture ,cw leans it. Just be aware that you likely have an rpm limiting coil . When the saw starts bouncing off the limiter, it can sound like the saw is running rich . Tune the high side in the cut . It should be slightly rich under a light load ,then clean up as the load increases. Probably just stated the obvious to you . If so, apologies . But sometimes it's an overlooked item .
