I have had this saw for 20 Years. Always drain the tank and run the engine out of gas. Be in the ceiling of my shed for 10 years. Been using the 046 when needing a saw. Took the 038 down put some gas in the tank, and it didn't start. Pulled the plug and used a small amount of starting fluid, and the saw never made a fire.Is the saw worth the money for a look see, and at the worst be a new coil, are a good cleaning? Been burning pellets for the last 23 years after the back went south. Thanks for the Time Tommy
If it's the older points saw - may be as simple as cleaning and setting points. A new electronic coil paired with an electronic flywheel is probably $50 in parts. Labor at the dealer may be too much. If you never use the saw, could sell it as a parts saw. Double check no spark state by grounding plug on fins and pulling. Also, pull kill wire off coil - make sure coil is not grounded in kill state.
