Is there a way to identify chains? I was in a major cleaning mood today and set out to clean my shop. I found a dozen or so of used chains. They are from saws that I owned over the last 20 years. I brought a couple in the house to put under the magnifying glass. All I saw was Oregon and there was a 91, maybe 16 depending on which way I turned it, on the part that goes into the bar. I presently have an MS250, which I have heard has an oddball chain and I know that none of the chains were bought for it. I also have a Poulan that I know one would fit and maybe some from a previous Poulan I had. Some would be from a Husky and some would be from a Stihl, I believe it was an 018. The 018 would be from the '70s if they made that model. If I could identify what I have and they would work on any of the saws I presently have, I would hate to just throw them away.
Um, I have no idea, but I found a few chains hangin' in one of the sheds when we bought this place.......still don't know what they are. Still hangin' in the same spot too (10.5 years later). Maybe I should go take a closer gander.

Nothing odd about the 250 chain but the bar is different than the common bars used on 026, 028 etc. The 91 will work if you have the 3/8 Pico on your 250 now. Both 3/8 Pico and .325 chain are used on the 250 if you have 325 on it you will have to change the clutch sprocket and bar to use the 91..
