I put an entire car tire in my garbage on Sunday. Just because. And it was taken away when I brought the garbage can back from the curb.

Invest in a generator or a good solar panel to keep your battery up. Low battery! This is common when the battery is a general purpose and not a real deep cycle battery. Replace the battery with a true deep cycle battery and add a solar panel. Check out for an inverter generator. Usually, when there is a considerable load on the battery the voltage would drop to set the detector off.
Most CO and smoke alarms run on 9-volt battery that lasts a year or more. A fresh battery might put you out of your misery and ensure smooth functioning. If your alarm is old, it may have lost some capacity, in which case it is wise to replace it. Bear in mind that factory-supplied alarm is both CO and LP. "Home" alarms are CO only. Go simple, try disconnecting and connecting again. Experts at security patrol vancouver say that usually, a hardwired detector has a 9V battery backup.

It's almost impossible to get rid of a tire here. Thirty years ago they had a dump here where they would burn the tires you brought in. Not that that was a healthy thing.

We have curbside trash and recycling pick up here. A few years back, trash was picked up by the trash guys and if they saw demolition debris or metal in the barrels, they refused it and orange stickered your barrel. Now it is curbside mechanical pick up with a side loading hydraulic arm on the truck. They don't check what is in the barrel.

Mandatory recycling has reduced tipping tonnage, so that is good. Electronics disposal costs a few bucks, hazardous waste disposal is free. Actually, none of it is free, we pay taxes.

Yes, that is part of my mistake, I did not have trash pick up from 1993-2014 (we were in the mountains, hauled our own), but I did see recycling bins in town where they had trash pick up. But, they had to pay a private company for it. One city over was very cool, buy a tag at any grocery store per bag. And, here at the new place, a company finally started servicing our area last year. I didn't know (shrug shoulders). And, I have another thread going, I bought a ton of compost from the dump a week or so ago that I am quite happy with.
