View attachment 126619 I commented on this thread earlier today that I was out of town and that the wife and kids were home in temps of 28 f for lows and a high of 48. Didn't think they would light a fire but received this picture from my wife a few hours ago saying my 12 year old son cut some kindling and they made a fire! Glad to see them doing it when I'm not around. Here's some pictures of flowers in Nanaimo on Vancouver island I took today. No flowers in the Rockies yet that's for sure!!
Current temp 43° with a steady rain since Saturday night. Rivers and brooks are moving at a good clip, snow in the higher terrain. Started up the pellet stove this morning, still going to get this damp chill outta the air.
39° and it rained during the night..........Rode the bike up the hill yesterday afternoon it was pretty cold at at 8700 feet 37° looking down at the river I could see lots of flooding.......This road will probably be closed due to snow until the middle of June.
yup lit one last nite house still warm today.. buddy showed up at house on mothers day he had snow on his truck... I didn't get a pic but it will be 70 and sunny tomorrow!
It was actually in the low 50's here this morning! Hasn't warmed up at all, in fact its been raining and now has a cold wind added to it. Lit off the 30 in the garage whilst I worked there!
Bert your pics of NV sure do blow away any "mental images" I've ever had about your state and having never been there, it's obviously not all desert. Very nice
Had several pine fires today. Around noontime decided to do another burn with the embers that were left and I should have gone and gotten some drier pine but I figured I'd give the two splits of pine that were left a shot, then go get two more milk crates. Well, It was a little smoky. Plus it rolled over the roof onto the patio and these two little house wrens that set up shop in what is supposed to be a decorative bird house were near it having little hissy-fits scolding chirping away, bouncing up and down like a parrot does sometimes. It was comical to watch. I went and got some drier pine and got a better burn going for them.
Ran the pellet stove some more this evening. Should be it for both that and the wood stove I'm thinking. Downright hot weather moving in through Friday. Mt Washington got 24" of snow, 3 days later, summer temps.
On the weather channel tonight they said Mt. Washington got 33" of snow!! But I didn't see any pics so I guess they don't abide by our rules!
We had a small fire this morning with some chit wood but with the warmer temps moving in (86 on Thursday) it might be our last.......maybe not.
This year's "shoulder season" got's big shoulders! Been on oil on & off for a month now with periods with the windows open. It's all good, better than beotchin about the heat, that will be soon enough.
Thanks! I live in the far west part, the backdrop of the Sierra range about 40 miles south of Lake Tahoe..........Your "mental images" are correct, a lot of Nv is is arid and barren.
It got up to 85° today. 75 tomorrow, decent until the weekend, where it goes to 100% chance of rain and 60° I'm burning nothing. The good news is that I'll be able to work on my motorcycle engine swap because of the rain.
A full load tonight of doug fir and larch keeping the house warm until the am with temps at 4c/39f currently with a heavy down pour of rain. Tomorrows high is 6c/43f with heavy rain. Ill get to enjoy a full day of burning before the inevitable end comes Yes in that order!
