Do you know of anyone who has been hit with the recent malware?

Some scary stories on the news so just wondering if anyone else has been hit or knows of someone.

 

I received this and yes, I have the premium version.




A massive ransomware attack spread across the globe today, locking up thousands of hospital, telecommunications, and utilities systems in nearly 100 countries. The attack used data stolen from the NSA to exploit vulnerabilities in Microsoft Windows and deliver the WanaCrypt0r ransomware. The demand was for $300 per PC.

While the ransomware was first detected wreaking havoc in emergency rooms and doctors' offices in the UK, the infection quickly spread worldwide, including to the US.

I caught it Dennis. I too have a higher level Malware bytes. I made sure everything was up to date, scanned w everything I had, no luck. Finally uninstalled the last few Windows Automatic Updates and that worked. And turned automatic updates off.

 

So what happened when you got it?

 

I think it happened progressively, it took longer and longer to boot up, til like 10 minutes in the end, as well as brain farting trying to open new browser windows. The major problem was when I walked away and my computer went into sleep mode it would not wake up. A couple times it did wake up and there was an blue screen with "windows is repairing your disc" type deal, along with a funny square (egyptian heiroglyph looking square to visit). They are all gone at the moment. I thought for sure Malware bytes or spybot or trendmicro housecall would help. Nope sneaky lil bass turd snuck in during my Windows automatic updates.

 

Good to know and good you got it fixed. I have the Malwarebytes Premium and no problem so far. Have had this for several years now. It will pick out things that anti-virus misses.
