I was out walking the dog the other day close to home and found these two lodgepole pines that fell sometime this spring. There wasnt an easy way to get around or over them for trail users. I went back in the evening with the truck and chainsaw to clear it it out. Now people can get through with ease. I probably took half to a third of what was there and cleaned all the branches off the trail. It doesnt look like its a tight fit for my dodge but in some spots I only had a few inches clearance between trees. This is a 5 minute drive from my house. In the truck is stacked 4 rows of 17 inch rounds with much of it ready to burn and certainly c,s,s shortly it will be great come November! Each truck load adds up and before I know it I will be all set for winter!
Yeah and being so close to home I dont have fuel costs cutting into my savings I get from heating with wood. I showed my father (lives on Vancouver Island) some of those pictures. He commented that he liked seeing them but didnt like seeing snow still around.
Nice load, looks good and sound. I've learned that lodgepole does not keep long once it's horizontal.
