I had one before but sold it with an older tractor. Mistake. Now I have to build another one for this tractor. They are very handy.
I built one to sit on the cultivators but my sister has a carry-all frame that she said I could have. I need to see when I can get it over here as it would be better than using the cultivator. I added a Harbour Freight carrier to the front of the tractor (an old 8N Ford) so that I could add counterweight to the front of the tractor when I load the carry-all. Here are photos:
We used to use a HD set of 3pt pallet forks instead of a spear on the back. As a bonus, we could pick up a balage bale (more ballast!!) without piercing the wrap if you were careful. Could build a "Carry-all skid" that would work with the forks too...
Thanks. The Old Girl looks a bit tired; Dad would be unhappy with me. However, I hope to get some fresh paint on her. Otherwise she runs great and still has the original six volt system and starts without any problems. Trans has a bit of an issue sometimes shifting into first but I never press it and just keep trying until she slips in.
I sometimes think I want one, but I keep a skidding winch on most of the spring through fall months. Pallet forks, pallets, bucket, army trailer or gator for this guy
I use mine ALL the time and have had it loaded or overloaded to the point of driving using the brakes to steer since the front tires were off the ground! Mine isn't nearly as nice as yours though MMfrompa nice work! How big is the platform?
Yes; know what you mean. I looked at getting wheel or bumper counterweights and they were expensive and with shipping .... So I decided the HF carrier mounted to the front and loaded would be the counterweight.
I've been thinking about my JD with your set-up lately Jack Straw, and Mike's video really shows how much I could use a carry box behind me. Don't have a 3 pt hitch but a box would sure be nice. Great job MMfrompa ...
No carryall for me. 6' blade is always mounted unless I have the boosh hawg or box blade on. I usually try to bring the wood out of the woods before I need more than a few tools. Tractor has: Blade for shoving and grading, blade has hooks welded to it for log chains to drag out wood, 3-4 choker chains, 1 saw, 1 machete, 1 wedge & hammer and a cooler. If I need more gear, I use the glorified golf cart buggy. I either skid to landing, or take buggy & splitter to woods and come back with ready made farwood.
