Rain rain go away. Raining since last night. I did take the dogs out to the wood lot and the tree dump yesterday morning.

Found some nice locust and mulberry that I'll go after once it dries up...if it dries up. :)

The rest of the weekend was spent on some kitchen improvements my bride and I had been planning to do...in the future.

Friday our dishwasher took a dive...again. it was a wedding gift to us from her dad. Since we have such a small house the only area for it was sized for an apartment sized unit.

Unfortunately it's been nothing but problems. After warranty was up it's cost us over $300 in repairs. Including $150 in the past year. So with another $70 bill looming we bit the bullet and ordered a full size unit.

To make it fit we are moving the fridge into an area taken from a spare room next to the kitchen.

The room started out looking like this.

Unfortunately the wall is load bearing and I had noticed a definite sag in the ceiling. Well taking off the drywall I found the reason.

When my FIL framed in the wall he didn't take into account it was load bearing so the support was a bit on the light side. :) No header to speak of.

After I put up two temp support walls, I put up the double 2x8 beam and the sag really showed up.

I used a couple junk 2x4s and the car jack to take the sag out.

A few creeks and moans from the ceiling and I got the sag taken care of.

Stopped for the night so I could get some work done for tomorrow.

On the left is the doorway that we will enter the room, while on the right is the little room that the fridge will sit back into.

Sleeping over at my Dad's tonight. My Mom and my Sister went to visit my oldest brother down in Charlotte. They will enjoy a week on vacation in the nicer weather.

Gotta love remodelling. Today I had to work around a closet above the stairs that was 1" out of square in just 3'.

Busy day today. campinspecter and I went over to Mom's and my brother and campinspecter pulled out a window and framed in a new door. Still lots to do to finish it but it is coming a long nicely. This will give her level access to the house when it is finished.

I left the camera at Mom's so hopefully campinspecter remembers to take some more photos tomorrow. I thought I would start a thread when we get finished. We didn't run into the header problems you did but there were some other surprises.

4.5 inches of rain since Friday night. Flooding everywhere. Farmers will be replanting lots of fields round here. I reckon it's a good day for paperwork and mower maintenance.

Yep, started raining sometime very early yesterday morning, rained all day. Stopped until just before bedtime, then started up again very early this am, and then the T&L started with very heavy downpours. That lasted about 1/2 hr or so. The dogs REALLY don't like T&L. Wimpy.

schlot and lukem ......I feel for you guys. I haven't found anything quite that bad here yet, but pretty close.
I'm thinkin' my wife's idea to just live in the house might be a good idea, yet I feel a need to nuke the whole house and staht ovah.
    We'll compromise.
