A pilot flew a Boeing B-47 Stratojet UNDER the Mackinaw Bridge. That is amazing. He, of course never again flew for the Air Force but it is both a testament to the size of the bridge and especially for the skill of the pilot. I'm betting it scared the crap out of a lot of people. I do remember hearing about this on the radio but even back then I watched very little television but I don't think there were many pictures got of the actual scene of action. I can only imagine though what it would have been like to be crossing that bridge and seeing this bomber coming in so low!!!! Here are a couple of pictures of the bridge. It's a mile between the towers so he had room. I don't remember the height but it is up there for sure. The bridge is around 5 miles long total.
Something similar happened back in the day after WW1 here in PA, where a daredevil flew a biplane under the span of the Kinzua Bridge. At the time, with the narrow support and relatively new "airplane", it was a ballsy feat...... Legends of the Kinzua Viaduct: Lost Gold & Daredevil Pilots
Whoa! Balls for sure! I remember on the Mackinaw Bridge that some cables had just been pulled up and had he flown under it with those cables hanging... That would not have been pretty.

Pilot must have been a yooper trying to keep the trolls from crossing the bridge! That would have been amazing to see! I was lucky enough to get to go across that bridge. Amazing.
