    Apple is funny isn't it? Just makes curly bark and then as it ages the tree twists like a corkscrew. Theres an apple that is long dead at my aunt's old house. Its something wicked since it looks haunted. No bark and all wood. The trunk and lone strong branch just looks like you took a wet towel and twisted it. Very smooth wood when the bark is peeling or breaks.

    Some are better than others! The ones with red/brick colored inside is just rich in flavor!
