Good luck with your carpet cleaning. Only carpets here are the area type that can be rolled up and removed/replaced. Ceramic tiles even in the closets.

Caffeine going in. I worked a little overtime last night and slept in a bit this morning. I hope the weather cooperates and I get some firewood splitting and stacking done today.

Can you walk to that trail you post pics of or do you have to drive there? How do u keep the dogs out of the mud now that the carpets are cleaned?

this time of year, its easier to keep dogs out of the house rather than keeping them out of the mud!

Hope to get to the cottage and unbox/setup the wood lathe today.

Maybe find something nice to cook on the grill, too.

    Everyone have a good day.

I drive to that trail a couple times a week. It is about four miles into that part of the city. I have walked/runned to it several times over the years from my house, but by the time I get there and back I've done over eight miles. So I usually drive in. I am walking the property more now as well with the new trails from the logging.

As far as the dogs and tracking mud in on carpet. This is my basement. Several years back I built a set of dog stairs up to this window out of a set of old stringers I had. Works out great. When one of us lets them back in we close the gate on stairs going down to basement. Then let the dogs in this sliding window. They have to stay down cellar for a good half hour to an hour. Dirt comes off on concrete floor down there. They have a couple of comfy places to lay down down there and settle down. Food and water are on landing half way up stairs to living room. This gives them time to lay around and lick there paws clean. Female does this without fail, I think because she has longer hair and seems to get dirt in between toes more. Anyway, she makes a mess if you let her up before she has cleaned her paws. This is working out well.

More fun with the ez trencher ( not so easy in wet clay soil) this am, then off to our friends house to install the dog e fence at her place. I'll have to extend my rental period for the trencher.

Hopefully she doesn't have clay soil like we do. I certainly can't do 100' in 5 minutes like the manufacturer says in my soil.

Charged the battery on my Simplicity rider and got it running and over to the other garage. Time for some cleaning and maintenance. Grease a few fittings, change spark plug, clean air filter, etc. Charging the battery on the Troy Bilt Zero Turn now. Cleaning up the detached garage so I can move the splitter up front to the overhead door. Get that started and let it run a bit and make sure its ready for when the weather decides to cooperate.

You know when you have one of those days, or moments? :hair:

I charged the battery on first mower and got it going no problem. The second one wouldn't take a charge. I know the battery is not bad. At least I think? What the hell? Left it on charge longer. Made sure connection was good. Came back later. :picard:No. Nothing. Look up at porch light to make sure my electricity is still going to my cord to charger. :picard:Nope. Off. Wife turned lights off on porch. :headbang:

Day started early but I got a lot done. Wall is down and all the wiring in the walls and ceiling is done except for two switch boxes and a half wall I still need to build. Got the insulation and vapor barrier on the ceiling done too. It's all sealed up now. Feels good to get this far.

I continue to be amazed at the fool who did the finish carpentry here. I stopped wondering why he did what he did....It's much easier that way.

I have to install a door knob and a few other odds and ends and then you'll find me on the couch.

Ok, long story, but the belts are shot on the trencher/ cable layer.

I got about 200' of the big end of our yard, then one of the belts broke, and the other was ready to go. Both dry rotted and cracked all the way.

Because my time is valuable, I bought belts in town, and changed then myself. The good expensive Gates belts for a tiller. $32 and change. The HD rental guy said they take special belts and I won't be able find them.

    Lol.

I went onto the manufacturers site and it listed the size belts.

It worked awesome after new belts.

    E fence is operational.

    See the flags?

Invisible Fence wanted $1800 installed for a 1 dog system. I did this all in, with rental, 14 gauge good perimeter wire, 2 dog system even the belts that I shouldn't have needed for $559.

Here's one belt from the trencher The other wasn't really any better. But the other one stayed on.

IMG_20170422_105849973.jpg Both cracked and we'll beyond needing replacement. How home depot rented this out without doing routine maintenance is appalling. Imagine if someone rented this out that couldn't have fixed it? Even fit me it nearly screwed up my weekend plans.
