I ordered 25 & 28" full skip chains, 33RSF 84 & 91, but they sent me RSLF chains. I'd love to try one on the huge piece of red oak but I've no clue how to sharpen them so they go back to the Stihl dealer on Monday.
Square chisel chain is fun to cut with, and even more so with 80cc plus powerhead. For most folks its best just to pay a shop to sharpen these chains.
If you have them, try them. I love the RSL chain as it cuts so aggressively. If you take your time, you can sharpen these if you pay attention.
Half or full skip chains in my opinion out perform full chisel. With full chisel cutting big wood, chips can't clean out fast enough. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Full chisel describes cutter shape, not sequence. Semi-chisel looks like a question mark, full chisel looks like a number 7. Sequence Full and 1/2 skip are for big bars.
My first dealing with square chisel full skip chain was a few years back, when it was time to sharpen I was used to round chipper chain.Called Saw King in Oregon who sold me the chain & vintage .404 roller nose bar - he said just start with your regular round file (new one is best) & after a few minutes the cutters were reshaped. Its pretty easy really. Square chisel cuts the fastest but also dulls much faster than round chipper also. All my bars 24"+ use full skip exclusively.Sometimes is a wee bit rough on denser hardwoods but clears out the chips quicker, its faster to sharpen too.
