If you don't want to flip it over and reverse the holes on it, or change sides of the car with it, you can always cut it short and use it in the passenger rear seats floor!!;)

Unfortunately, the wood looked like it was sitting a lot longer than he claimed. Even the oak was rotting when I pulled the bark off it.

The first.load off the top was fair. I think I only took one more 3' secturn on my second trip, it was just getting worse and wrose the deeper I went into the stack. I grabbed a few fresh cut maple pieces and called it a loss.

A third of what I brought home will probably end up in the fire pit too.

Woke up early (go figure) and puttzed around outside at the cottage.
Moved a tree top that had died and blown down to the wood cutting area, moved the bandsaw, had two pots of coffee (one was so good, made another!), went for a bicycle ride (sorry Backwoods Savage its a conventional bike), did a little landscapling on the driveway.

99 burnt some more leaves to get rid of them.

The frogs were out and singing last evening finally!

It got to 78° here today. Windy too.

I found the first mosquitoes of the year. My wife and I killed about 10 of them while hanging out on the lounge chairs on the patio after having a dinner out at the local Mexican place. I guess I'll be getting that dynatrap after all. Those really work well.

I discovered the foot on one of my fly reels had broken, and I have not been able to locate the part yet.

    20170415_110517.jpg

So I read up on backyard aluminum casting and learned the basics. I have the next size up reel and it shares the same foot, so I was able to make the mold out of the second one. I ended up picking up greensand at the local farm store and used cat food cans to hold the molds.
    20170415_110531.jpg

The sand did not release from the center cavity, so I removed the sand and it filled up. One end of the foot ran short with the liquefied aluminum, maybe from cooling too quick.

I ended up hogging out the cavity with a carbide cutter and drilled the holes out. It works fine, but I will make another attempt to get the cavity clear. After watching a few more videos on youtube, I see where I can improve upon the process. A little fine file work took out the roughness on the new piece. I did ok for a hack.

I finished up the other forging project too.

I have the wireless fence. I've taught 3 labs not to leave the yard. They can go up to 90 ft away from center. (adjustable) I've gone through about 5 collars.
