Just took delivery of another load of logs.

Once CSS, along with a few standing dead trees on my property, I hope to have all my wood racks full!.

This load is made up of white and red oak, a few maple logs, and a black birch. Very pleased.

    X27 provided for perspective.

Yeah. Paid $125 for the load. About half the $'s of a cord cut and split.

I was down to Cape Cod recently, and saw 1/3 cord, for "only" $199. Crazy price. I only have 3/4 acre, so harvesting my own wood is minimal. I do augment with scrounging from friends and family.

Try heading out to "the islands". I bet they get a mint for the stuff out there. Your deal seems reasonably priced.

Either way you get it, its probably best you keep going for that stuff rather than full priced. Being that it differs place to place looks like you got a great deal!

Holy crap!!!! I'd be selling firewood for sure if that price would hold around here. That is better than 3 times what people can get here.

On the other hand, that is some great firewood Mike.

People out there buy the $6 bundles at the grocery store. At that point I'm ready to just burn bundles of money

I did this a few times before I found dry wood. Its stupid but I didn't know what I should have done differently and the wood I had then wasn't dry so I took a few bundles. Even had to do this for xmas... parents don't stay home in the winter so wood wasn't stacked out of the rain (fixed this about a month ago) and it is just a fireplace decorative. They thought it would be better to get a gas stove, I pleaded with them not to as I liked the fireplace but for the enjoyment and excuse to have the wood around here. For any reason I would ask them to get an insert and hopefully then they can operate it more efficiently.

Given the recent spate of stories with injuries or worse, I'm not using the chainsaw if I'm the only one around.

So, I had a couple of hours this morning to start on the new pile of logs.

Unless I can cut them in place, I roll(peavey) them off the pile onto the smaller logs, to get them up off the ground a bit. Saves on the back and reduces the potential of chainsawing the dirt.

When I finished cutting, i took a few minutes to move some around to be ready to cut in the morning, tomorrow.

This pile wasn't there before I started cutting -

    And then... I spied this - IMG_20170418_131544060_HDR.jpg
I tied the caution ribbon on it, as a reminder.

I'll be checking the rest of the logs more closely now that I've seen that chain wrecker.
