Thanks VT. I know what you mean now, thanks, never heard the term "peepers" before.

    Welcome CanadianShield, :handshake:

What part of the province do you call home? I settled in southern Ontario for work but this same job takes me to almost every corner of the province and sometimes beyond. The snow has been gone for a few weeks down here in the banana belt but still lots in the bush not to far north of us.

We call them spring peepers and they are frogs. I heard some in a pond on Monday down near Niagara Falls when it was 20 C (68 F) but didn't hear anything on Wednesday when we had a cool west wind and a high of about 5 C (40 F).

Home is not as far north as Hudson Bay, yet not as far west as Wawa, nor am I as far east as Cornwall or as south as Pellee Island :handshake:.
Still plenty of snow up here. Need snowshoes to get out back in the hills still. Driving me nuts because I still have plenty of logs to haul down. :tree:

Yup, Spring Peepers are a specific kind of frog in vernal pools, but I can't remember the name. They are peeping hot and heavy round these parts. It's a sign of spring looked forward to in NH.

That's unfortunate MrWhoopee (unless you "dig" the snow as I do!). Does look pretty though.
14 C today, 23 in the house. Losing lots of snow today, probably be able to go fetch me "fellers" in a couple days!

Now that's a cool way to gauge the necessary outdoor chore - gotta love nature, who needs a calendar!
14 C here today, no sign, or sound, of peepers yet! Couple of weeks i guess.

    Welcome aboard.
Peepers are horny little frogs. I have a dear friend that lives in Rhode Island, 50 miles south of me, that I worked with 10+ years ago. We only talk a couple times a year anymore but when we do it's driven by events. And one of them is the spring peepers. He usually gets his about 5 days before I get mine. Right now it's in full chorus.
