I finally got out to do some cutting.....

Now that the snow has receded some, it was time to get cutting. I got 4 different trees in 3 different locations. The first 3 pics are Red Maple, then a pic of Basswood. Last 2 photos are Cherry. It felt good to be out doing what we love.

 

Nice work NHMM. I'm hoping to get out and do some cutting late next week myself so I need to treat my pants with permethrin some time soon. The wife pulled a tick of her clothes the other day. Not sure if it came from dogs, horses, or when out walking horses on a lead line.

Yes it time to get those saws out. Mine has been running more as the winter turned mild and I need stacks to get finished. Likely will get it done soon. Im hoping on a new saw. Mine is just finding some more ways to get into the shop. Great pics. All blowdowns??

 

Looking good. I can't wait to get out and clean up for the winter. The rain this week and weather next week should really melt the remaining snow. I was surprised how much you had left and you are not too far north of me.

 

Nice work there!! The wood in the 4th pic looks like Ash to me, better than Basswood.

 

The top half of the Cherry blew down, I dropped the bottom 30 feet. The Maples were cut down, and the Basswood was a blowdown.

 

It does look like Ash, but I don't have much experience with Ash other burning a piece here or there over the years. So I figured it was Basswood cause it was kinda light. But I was just going real fast and loading and moving on to the next spot. I'll have another look. Thanks!

Yeah, it 's kinda surprising what a difference a few miles and a few degrees make.

I'm "chompin at the bit" for our snow to melt. I was in the woods (on show shoe's) Monday measuring some logs, I could still burry the 2' side of a framing square in the snow.

2 days of 40 and 2 inches of rain snows almost gone... but I could bury it in mud!

As much as I'd love to go to Michigan, I'm working that weekend with no chance of getting it off. Alas, It's "A Bridge to Far".

 

Same here my friend-600 mi one way is just too taxing, even in a taxi...not that I could afford that. We will enjoy and join our brothers and sisters vicariously through the pics we know that dude will be taking...wish he'd heal up and do some work... Wishing Eric VW a full recovery soon...Child Labor officials are making inquiry as we speak...
