Might be too warm for you down south but WWW has some pants he uses for hunting, normal jeans with duck canvas over the lower legs. They have been practically indestructable be it wood cutting, fixing trucks hunting, whatever.
Because my conditions are so rough on pants, I usually buy the "lesser" cost pants. You know-the carhart knock-offs? And the cheaper denim companies? Usually get snagged or ripped crawling in crawl spaces (hey...thats why they call them that!) full of pipe dope, pvc glue, fuel oil, etc etc etc. Usually get one season of full time work out of a pair of dickies, gravel gear, wrangler or whatever brand. The carharts don't go to work until I'm sure they are ready for some big time abuse....spelled disposal.
I wear cargo pants 90% of the time and tried the Riggs for a bit. Something about their cut doesn't work with me and they feel like they're tight or binding up in the hip/thigh areas when I bend. My favorites now are the carhartt relaxed fit cargos. Sent from my SM-J700T using Tapatalk
I like the Dickies carpenter pants. They will outlast blue jeans at least 3:1 Some I have had 5-6 years. I wear them every day now. Haven't bought a pair of Levi's since I discovered Dickies. I don't care for the Carhartt pants. Pockets are cut on an angle and don't hold a tape measure right. Leg pocket doesn't fit my flashlight. More expensive also...
Carhartt is good they are better quality and last longer. I don't have any Duluth pants but their buck naked boxers are the CHIT!!! Excellent quality and extremely comfortable, but also very $$!!
I like relaxed fit and the carpenter-style Wrangler jeans. Used to wear Carhartts but I found that as I grew older, the pants started shrinking in the waist and other areas. I like the fit of the Wranglers, they don't pinch my marbles as much as other brands. Even some of the other styles of Wranglers aren't cut the same. Once I find jeans I like, I buy quite a few pairs so that when they wear out, I have some in reserve. I have heard really good things about their RIGGS line of ripstop pants, thinking I might try a pair or two for my outdoor work.
A few weekends ago while we were behind the cheddar curtain, we saw a older "guy" (?) retired age wearing them as he crossed a parking lot to a restaurant we were going to. Laughed so hard we almost lost our appetite!
I like the cheap jeans from Walmart, I wear them for casual occasions, then I wear them for work and when they are really bad I cut wood wearing them. I get about 2 years out of them and they cost around $12.
I wear the key outerwear logger jeans, very durable. I have 2 pairs of the riggs jeans i dont like the fit very well. I like the dickies also.
Unfortunately, all my pants start out fairly loose fitting, but over time, they all now seem to be rather skinny...
