Last time out in the woods, I found a couple of old, old broken beer bottles. The more I thought about them, I thought I should see if I could find the pieces to put together a complete bottle. You know, just a neat item to decorate the cabin with, some local history. I found the spot again and started to clear leaves out of the way and began to find more and more broken pieces. So many in fact that I had given up on putting a bottle back together. There must have been close to a case of broken bottles. Then I found a complete bottle, and then another! They are from the Walter Bros. Brewing Co which was located in Menasha, WI. The best I can tell from a little research is that these are from the 1890's to 1910. The brewery was about 30 miles from where I found these. Interesting find since there is literally no other trash laying around on this property.
That is neat! Probably a few young firewood hoarders celebrating after a day of putting up BTU's the Old Fashioned way?
